Rémi Russbach was born in Geneva in 1941, specialized in paediatrics. Since 1969 he has carried out many missions as a delegate for the ICRC, including a year in Viet Nam in 1970.Dr. Russbach was appointed Chief Medical Officer of the ICRC and Head of the Medical Division, which he founded, in 1977. In 1986 he set up the training course entitled Health Emergencies in Large Populations (HELP). He has been Vice-President of the International Society for Disaster Medicine (ISDM) since 1987.
