Professor Habib Slim was born in Moknine, Tunisia, in 1938. He holds a State Doctorate in Public Law (1978) and the agrégation in Public Law (1982) of the University of Tunis. He is Professor at the Faculty of Law and Political Science in Tunis, Director of the Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law Laboratory, and Deputy Secretary-General of the Tunisian Red Crescent, responsible for disseminating international humanitarian law. Professor Slim represented the government of Tunisia at the Third United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea, and at the Diplomatic Conference on the Reaffirmation and Development of International Humanitarian Law (1976-1977).
